Your FAQs, Answered.

Q: When will the Virtual Run App be available for download?
A: The Sanlam Cape Town Virtual Run App is now ready for download, but only works for entrants of the event, who will receive their unique app logins via email.

Q: How much data will the App use?
A: Once you’ve downloaded the Virtual Run App (we recommend using WiFi to do this), app usage will be minimal. While you run, the App will go into sleep mode but will continue to track you. Some data usage will be required to upload your finish photo to your social platforms and view your results. It is estimated that the 10km run will use between 1.5 and 3 megs.

Q: I’m worried about battery life…
A: When you download the App, you will be required to set it up and optimise it for your phone’s battery life before going on your 5km demo run. While you run on 18 October, the App will go into sleep mode (while continuing to track you) to keep battery use to an absolute minimum. The App was designed to change the frequency of your GPS readings if it senses that your battery usage is not optimal. Ensuring that your battery is fully charged before you start you run, and closing / deactivating all extra apps during your run will further extend your battery life.
