THE picturesque False Nature Reserve will host the inaugural Central Athletics Nature Run on Sunday 18 December 2022.
This unique race which is making its appearance on the Western Province Athletics (WPA) Road Running calendar for the first time this year, is expected to offer a completely unique experience for runners.
The nature reserve is a world heritage area and consists of six parts: Rondevlei, Zeekoevlei, the Strandfontein bird watching sections, Pelican Park, Slangetjiebos and Zandwolf Coast. The reserve also forms part of the larger False Bay Ecology Park.
Bird lovers established Rondevlei as a bird sanctuary in 1952. Today it is a nature reserve covering 290 hectares with a museum, an auditorium, a network of footpaths, observation towers, as well as several bird hides named after famous bird watchers.
There is a permanent wetland with sandy fynbos in the north, and seasonal wetlands and dune beach fields in the south.

The 10 km and the 5 km fun run will be run through these fast, spectacular routes.
The 10km starts promptly at 06:30, while the 5km starts at 07:15. In addition to big prize money for the top three in all age groups, there are also incredible lucky draw prizes.

A pair of men’s and women’s Olympic trail shoes, as well as an entry for the Bay to Bay 30km or 15km race are among the many prizes that are also up for grabs.
