Western Province Athletics (WPA) would like to wish all members of WPA season’s greetings and hope that 2021 year will soon bring a semblance of normality.
The current world-wide pandemic has had a devastating effect on all our lives. It has not only disrupted our family and social lives but has had far reaching effects on our work and businesses alike.
With us finding ourselves amid the current level 3 lockdown and the National Corona Command Council meeting today, the following urgent requests need to be communicated with the WPA membership.
- Our social behaviour and ability to adjust to the new social demands are testing us all to the maximum.
- We would like to remind all our members to adhere to the current curfew that currently takes effect between 21:00 and 06:00.
- With the change from Level 1 back to Level 3, our members need to be reminded that the responsibility is with us to adhere to the regulations.
- Not complying with the rules in general will determine the fate for all of us.
- WPA is calling upon all its members to adhere to the regulations; to make sure they adhere to social distancing protocols; to wear masks and always obey Covid–19 regulations, even whilst training.
- Our appeal to all members of WPA is simply to obey the rules.
- Club chairpersons are urged to motivate their club members to acknowledge the situation so that we all work together to stop this pandemic.
- As WPA therefore request all WPA members to please adhere to all Covid-19 rules and regulations.
- The infection rate is climbing day-by-day. Please make sure you wear your mask in the correct way, wash your hands, and sanitize on a regular basis.
- This is a social commitment that the members need to acknowledge and comply with.
- We are confident that we will get through this pandemic and uncertain situation so that we be able to return to our normal routine and lifestyle that we had previously become accustomed to.
- Let us stand united and work towards the National goal of reaching this sooner than later.
