To All WPA Affiliated Clubs
As requested by ASA Members, the expiry date for the 2018 Permanent licenses is extended to Sunday 17 February 2019 inclusive.
All athletes who are in possession of a 2019 licence number is encouraged to participate in it with immediate effect.
To protect the investment ASA sponsors made, and to avoid ambush marketing during ASA Races at national and provincial level, the ASA Rule 25 and 26 will be strictly applied by Referees.
1. To be clear, ASA Licences are issued in line with ASA Rule 25.4 must be worn by club athletes. The only exceptions will be races that obtained permission from ASA to wear a Special Number in accordance with ASA Rule 26.2.
2. Races whom have obtained permission to wear special numbers are:
2.1. All ASA National Championships events
2.2. Bonitas Comrades Marathon
2.3. Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon
2.4. Sanlam Cape Town Marathon
2.5. FNB Cape Town 12 One Run
3. Where athletes are issued with temporary licenses, the lay-out should adhere to ASA Rule 25.5.
4. Where Race Organizers obtained permission from the domicile Province to use Race Numbers (not to be confused with Special Numbers), the lay-out and positioning of the race number must adhere to ASA Rule 26.1.
ASA Provinces are requested to advise Race Organizers and Referees that, in order to protect ASA Sponsors, an ASA motion will serve at the 2019 ASA AGM to penalize Race Organizers that are found guilty of violating ASA Rules 25 and 26.
