Runners and walkers still wanting to take part in the OUTsurance Kfm 94.5 Gun Run on 14 October, are in luck!  Online entries for the half marathon, 10km run/walk and a 5km fun run/walk have been extended, now closing on Thursday, 4 October 2018 at midnight.

From top athletes and casual joggers to first-time fun runners and families with prams (5km only), this mostly-flat and scenic race around the Atlantic Seaboard has something to offer for the whole family.  All finishers receive a medal and lucky-draw prizes include R20 000 cash.

As is tradition, the Cape Field Artillery will be there on race day to signal the start of the half marathon and close of the event, with the firing of the battlefield gun at 10am.

This eco-conscious event encourages participants and supporters to carpool or share an Uber into the city on race day, while a free MyCiTi shuttle service will run between the Civic Centre and Stadium Stations, before and after the race. Water refill tanks – for those with bottles, cups and hydration packs – will be positioned at two water points on the half marathon route, and with a strict ‘no litter’ policy in place, organisers make an appeal for runners to #RunClean and make use of designated Chuck Zones.

“Each year we examine where we can cut our carbon footprint,” reports race director, Tony Breslin. “We have taken steps to reduce water usage and aim to lower the overall amount of waste generated by the event. We even encourage people to ‘plog’ (pick up litter as they jog) while they train.”

The Amy Foundation (formerly the Amy Biehl Foundation) is the official charity for 2018. A group of their young musicians will be at the OUTsurance/Kfm 94.5 vibe point on race day to entertain crowds.
